Under Title II of No Child Left Behind, the Department of Education will administer a competitive grant program to establish mathematics partnerships between an institution of higher education and an upper elementary or middle grades school or schools in need of improvement. Other service providers such as the mathematics specialists or regional service cooperatives may also share in the partnership. A request for proposals (RFP) outlining the requirements of the program along with application information is attached.
Proposals are due on or before the close of business (4:30 p.m.) on Friday, February 27, 2004. Questions about the RFP and eligible applicants may be directed to Dr. Charles Watson (cwatson@arkedu.k12.ar.us) in the Department of Education.
Department of Education staff will conduct a technical assistance session for prospective applicants on Thursday, January 22, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Arkansas Department of Education Building, # 4 State Capitol Mall, Little Rock. This session will include an overview of the requirements of the RPF to be followed by a question and answer session.
