The University of Arkansas at Monticello will host a two-week institute entitled, “Two Case Studies in Conflict Resolution: The Holocaust, Israel, and the Arab States, and Apartheid in South Africa," on campus for twenty social studies and English teachers who teach in grades 6-12. The dates are June 4-18, 2004, with two follow-up meetings in the 2004-05 school year. Funded by the Arkansas Humanities Council, the institute will provide for food, housing, mileage to Monticello and return to the teachers’ hometown, books, and a scholarship for three hours of graduate credit.
Educators attending this summer’s institute will be eligible to participate in a six-week study/travel visit to South Africa in the summer of 2005. This project will be for teachers who attend our two-week institute on campus in June 2004.
