The Arkansas Arts Council will present its annual two-day Arts in Education Professional Development Retreat Friday and Saturday, April 16-17, 2004.
The retreat will be in Little Rock at Camp Aldersgate. The cost of $55 per person includes workshops, meals, and lodging at the camp. The cost without lodging is $35. Registration deadline is April 2.
Artists, teachers, and members of arts and community organizations are invited to participate. The emphasis will be revitalizing art instruction and integrating the arts across the curriculum.
Teacher-artist Monica Gomez will lead the sessions highlighting music, movement, and creative writing. Gomez, a Texas Touring Roster Artist with the Texas Commission on the Arts, is a performing singer/songwriter, poet, and martial arts expert in El Paso.
Teachers may receive in-service credit if the retreat complies with their districts’ professional development policy.
