The Office of Education for Homeless Children and Youth of the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) is sponsoring the 2004 Statewide Homeless Education Forum to provide the opportunity for the sharing of information and communication among the partners providing services to children and families in homeless situations. The 2004 Statewide Homeless Education Forum will be held at the Agora Conference Center, 705 E. Siebenmorgen Road in Conway, Arkansas, on April 26th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The invited partners include each of the 308 designated LEA Homeless Education Liaisons, counselors, social workers, school nurses, administrators, and others. Barbara Duffield, the Policy Director of the National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth, and Patricia Julianelle, the Education Staff Attorney of the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty, will address the current legislative updates and present an advanced training of the McKinney-Vento topics. This invitation has also been extended to the appropriate state-level persons for Academic Standards and Assessment; Arkansas Public School Computer Network (APSCN); Child Nutrition; Comprehensive Health; Guidance Services-School Counselors; Homeless Providers; Language Minority Student Programs; Migrant Education; School Health/Nursing; Special Education; Student Transportation; and Title Programs.

The attendees of the forum will receive a participant booklet with the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) preliminary guidance, documents, and resources from the speakers to provide knowledge and accurate information to ensure the children and youth experiencing homelessness receive services through a seamless and integrated system.
