The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) is partnering with Arkansas Education Television Network (AETN), Arkansas Children's Trust Fund, Arkansas Department of Human Services-Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education and Arkansas Head Start State Collaboration Project as part of an ongoing commitment to support early childhood education and school readiness. These agencies are proud to provide the opportunity for a train-the-trainer session for the parenting series Going To School.

Going To School parenting series is a new training curriculum focused on supporting the intellectual, emotional and social skills needed for school readiness of young children. Based on the research of Drs. Craig and Sharon Ramey, the curriculum is designed for parents, guardians, grandparents and teachers of children 3-8 years of age. The curriculum is based on ten episodes highlighting a particular topic of interest that provides practical advice on how to prepare children to enter school for the first time and how to foster success throughout their education. The user-friendly facilitator's guide will lead trainers step-by-step through the process for the ten sessions in the series.

Train-the-trainer sessions will be conducted from 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the following locations:

May 14th in Conway at AETN, 350 South Donaghey Avenue, Conway, AR
May 18th in Jonesboro at Arkansas State University, Convocation Center, 217 Olympic Drive, Jonesboro, AR
May 19th in Springdale at Jones Center, 922 East Emma Avenue, Springdale, AR
May 20th in Arkadelphia at Ouachita Baptist University, 410 Ouachita Street, Arkadelphia, AR
May 21st in Monticello at Southeast Arkansas Education Service Cooperative, 1022 Scogin Drive, Monticello, AR

The registration fee of $40 per participant will provide the Going To School training kit, which includes the facilitator's guide, video training tape, and a caregiver's guide. Register online at http://www.aetn.org/education/GTS by April 30, 2004.
