The Special Education Unit of the Arkansas Department of Education will hold Special Show 2004 on July 28-30, 2004, at the Hot Springs Convention Center, Hot Springs, Arkansas. More than 2000 participants are expected to attend this biennial event.
The theme of Special Show 2004 is “Building Brighter Futures.” Sessions have been planned for special education teachers, general education teachers, school administrators, parents, speech pathologists, psychologists, and nurses, as well as other professionals working in related fields. Special Show will begin at noon on Wednesday, July 28, in the Summit Arena.
Gaynell Colburn will present the keynote address. Ms. Colburn, who has sustained disabilities resulting from an alcohol related car accident, is a skilled motivational speaker and talented entertainer. She recently received the Essence Award for her musical talent, and also has performed as a drummer for the Stevie Wonder band. Ms. Colburn will share her musical talent with Special Show participants in a special concert to be held in the Exhibit Hall. More than 100 vendors have been invited to exhibit during this conference.
Early registration for Special Show 2004, including 3 meals, is $100 per participant. Pre-registration will be accepted through July 9th. After that date, all registration will be on-site and will be $125 per person. Complete information on registration and hotel reservations is attached to this memorandum.
