Certain data elements (see attachment 1) are necessary in fulfilling the obligations of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation to determine if students taking the required state criterion referenced assessments on March 30, 2004 were actually enrolled in the school, district or state on October 1, 2003. The identified data will be retrieved from each district’s database by APSCN on June 7, 2004. March 30, 2004 will be the test date used to determine student participation on all required assessments. It is imperative that the March 30, 2004 enrollment be completely accurate. Class lists will also be collected for Algebra 1 and Geometry courses (see attachment 2) as a benchmark for NCLB Adequate Yearly Progress(AYP).
All districts must have accurately entered data prior to June 7, 2004. All students must be enrolled through March 30, 2004 and all schedule changes complete. The attachments to this memo do not apply if the district is on the APSCN Pentamation Student Management System.
The districts not on the APSCN system (non-Pentamation districts) will need to use the attached file layouts to submit data. Students in residential facilities should be excluded from this pull. The data should be emailed to Clara Knox, APSCN Programming Manager, at cknox@arkedu.k12.ar.us by the end of the day June 7, 2004.
