The draft Arkansas Better Chance (ABC) Priority Matrix provided during the recent series of public meetings had computation errors. It has been adjusted to reflect the most current information regarding fourth grade Benchmark scores and School Improvement sites. The original matrix used the Benchmark scores for the general population, and the revised matrix now uses the scores for the combined population.
Act 49 of the Second Extraordinary Session established priority status for, “Schools that have 75% or more students scoring below proficiency on the primary benchmark exams, schools in school improvement status and schools in districts in academic distress.”
The updated ABC Priority Matrix is attached to this correspondence and may also be accessed at www.state.ar.us/childcare, then go to Services A to Z, and select Arkansas Better Chance.
New Requests for funding were originally to be submitted no later than April 30, 2004; however, the deadline for submission of proposals will be extended to Friday May 14, 2004, no later than 4:00 p.m.
