The implementation of Act 1220 of 2003 has been progressing. The Arkansas Center for Health Improvement (ACHI) is developing the individual child health reports. ACHI is also working on a “Tool Kit” to assist districts with the BMI process.
Some districts have completed the height and weight measurements and have sent the results to ACHI for tabulation and the generation of student health reports. ACHI has set up a data entry process to input each district’s results.
It is imperative that all districts complete the measurement process by May 7, 2004, and submit student data. The law requires an assessment this year. Health reports cannot be generated until all results have been received by ACHI.
If a school’s BMI data is not received by May 7, that district will be listed on the state report as “not responding”. All districts have worked diligently on this BMI project. It is now time to publish the results from these efforts through the required health reports.
