Specialists in the Academic Standards and Assessment Unit will offer two 5-week online courses for which participants may earn 30 hours of professional development. The courses, “Using Technology in the Elementary Math Classroom” and “Using Technology in the Writing Process,” are open to all classroom teachers with reliable internet access, adequate network capacity, and access to a computer lab environment in which students can utilize technology-enhanced lessons. There is no tuition for these courses.
The courses will be conducted from October 26 – December 17, 2004. Although all regular course work may be completed on the participant’s own time, all participants are required to attend a Compressed Interactive Video meeting on October 11, 2004 at their educational cooperative.
Each course is limited to 20 participants. The intention is to involve teachers from all regions of the state; however, to ensure enrollment, teachers should register as soon as possible. Although the registration deadline is July 1, 2004, the courses could be filled prior to this date.
