In order to more evenly distribute the number of districts monitored each year by the Office of Gifted and Talented, the gifted program-monitoring schedule has been reorganized. The new schedule still maintains the three-year cycle as specified by Ark. Code Ann. 6-20-317. However, due to this reorganization, some districts who were monitored during 2003-2004 may be scheduled to be monitored again this year, 2004-2005. And districts originally scheduled to be monitored during 2004-2005, may not be on the new schedule for this year. The new monitoring cycle will go into effect with the 2004-2005 school year. Cycle I will be monitored this year. Please also note that in addition to this Director’s Memo, the Office of Gifted and Talented will send monitoring notification letters at the beginning of each school year to superintendents with districts scheduled to be monitored.
