The Arkansas Department of Education, Special Education Unit (ADE-SEU); the Arkansas Special Education Resource Center (ASERC); and the Easter Seals Outreach Program will conduct training on curriculum and portfolio development. The training will be offered regionally during the 2004-2005 school year, and the maximum capacity for each training session is 40 participants. These two-day workshops will address using technology to assist school personnel in aligning functional curriculum to the state standards, creating and modifying instructional materials, preparing alternate assessment portfolios, and developing and implementing instructional activities.
Each participant will have the opportunity to work in the computer lab and address the following topics:
Computer Lab Sessions
. Utilizing word processing
. PowerPoint, use of web-based tools and simple multimedia
. Modifications using technology to construct instructional materials
. Universal design
. Technology ideas
Each participant will also have the opportunity to participate in a classroom/meeting room session and address the following topics:
Meeting Room Sessions
. Hands-on activities in the area of curriculum
. Alignment with state standards
. Portfolio development
. Portfolio scoring
. Modifications
