Act 35 (Second Extraordinary Session of the Arkansas 84th General Assembly) requires a developmentally appropriate assessment be administered to all students in kindergarten, first, and second grade in reading and mathematics. The assessment will be the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. The assessment for grades K-2 can be administered any time during the week of March 7, 2005.

The previously announced testing dates for 2004-2005 school year are as follows:

September 17, 2004 - Shipping date - Kindergarten Screening (Iowa Early Learning Inventory)

March 21- April 29, 2005 – Window: MAC II Assessment for LEP students K-12

March 25, 2005 – Shipping date - Alternate Portfolios


THE FOLLOWING TESTS MUST BE ADMINISTERED ON THE DAY/DATE LISTED!

January 25, 2005 – Mid-Year End of Course Algebra I Exam (Tuesday)

January 27, 2005 – Mid-Year End of Course Geometry Exam (Thursday)

March 8-10, 2005 – Benchmark Exams in Grades 3-8 (Tuesday-Thursday)
(Note: One test booklet and answer document will be used for Benchmark and Iowa Test of Basic Skills for grades 3-8)

March 9-10, 2005 – End of Course Grade 11 Literacy Exam (Wednesday-Thursday)

March 11, 2005 – Norm-Referenced Test (Iowa Test of Basic Skills) in Reading and Math – Grades 3-9 (Friday)

April 26, 2005 – End of Course Algebra I Exam (Tuesday)

April 28, 2005 – End of Course Geometry Exam (Thursday)

THE REVISION OF THE ELA FRAMEWORKS HAS REQUIRED DEVELOPMENT AND CORRESPONDING FIELD TESTING OF ITEMS ALIGNED WITH THE NEW REVISIONS. A FIELD TEST OF MULTIPLE CHOICE ITEMS FOR THE LITERACY EXAM WILL BE ADMINISTERED ON OCTOBER 27, 2004, IN SELECTED SCHOOL DISTRICTS. THOSE DISTRICTS SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE ON A SAMPLE BASIS WILL BE NOTIFIED SHORTLY AFTER LABOR DAY BY THE TESTING CONTRACTOR (QUESTAR). NO MORE THAN ONE HOUR OF TIME WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THIS FIELD TEST.
