This is an invitation for superintendents, secondary principals, and curriculum coordinators to attend a special videoconference Wednesday, October 6, 2004, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, featuring Dr. Rick Stiggins. This special administrators-only session is part of the regular Smart Start/Smart Step videoconference series. The topic of the special session will be “The Administrator’s Role in Supporting Assessment for Learning on a Building and District Level.”
The focus for this year’s Smart Start/Smart Step professional development is assessment of and for learning, which will be led by Dr. Stiggins. He was the key presenter at this year’s Smart Summer Conference and will be the state’s mentor/consultant for the coming year. Each team member attending the Smart Summer Conference received a copy of “Assessment FOR Learning: An Action Guide for School Leaders” by Dr. Rick Stiggins. Hopefully the teams attending the Smart Summer Conference have had the opportunity to share the conference experience and the action guide with other teachers and administrators in the local district.
The regular Smart Start/Smart Step videoconference that the district leadership teams are invited to attend is scheduled for October 6, 2004, from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM, and October 7, 2004, 9:30 –11:30. The October 7th session is a repeat of the October 6th session; therefore, it is only necessary for a team to attend one of the videoconferences.
