National School Bus Safety Week will be observed the week of October 17 – 23, 2004. This week is set aside each year to promote school bus safety for students of every district.
In an effort to promote school bus safety, there will be a National School Bus Safety poster and Danger Zone card sent as hard copy to each district. This year’s activity booklet can be downloaded from the National Association of Pupil Transportation (NAPT) web site at www.napt.org. It is recommended that each district use these items to educate students about school bus safety and the dangers of loading and unloading students.
If additional copies of the Danger Zone cards are needed, the district may make copies as needed. Additional copies of the poster may be requested by fax to National School Bus Safety Week posters at 518-218-0867.
The poster theme for 2005 is "I See the Driver, the Driver Sees Me". If a district would like to participate in the National School Bus Safety Week poster contest all entries must be received by May 30, 2005 at the Arkansas Department of Education, School Transportation, #4 Capitol Mall, Room 105-C, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201. The entry rules may be found on the NAPT web site at www.napt.org.
