According to H.R. 1, Public Law 107-110, No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) – 2001,Title X, Part C – Homeless Education, Subtitle B of Title VII of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 11431 et seq.), Section 722(g)(6), Arkansas shall ensure that each of the 256 local educational agency (LEA) Homeless Liaisons, who have been designated and identified on the Statewide Information System (SIS) - Arkansas Public School Computer Network (APSCN) “Cycle 2 Report”, are informed of the duties and responsibilities to ensure the rights and services for each child and youth who are experiencing homelessness.

The Office of Education for Homeless Children and Youth is providing a training opportunity for the 66 newly designated FY 2004-2005 LEA Liaisons for Homeless Children and Youth on December 8, 2004, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service on University Avenue in Little Rock. The attendees of the trainings will receive a notebook with NCLB and legal information, materials, documents and resources. A special packet will be distributed to the LEA Homeless Liaisons to bring back for the superintendent and each principal in the school district.
