State Board of Education regulations require that all school buses be inspected semi-annually within a minimum interval of four months and a maximum of six months. The Arkansas Department of Education “School Bus Inspection Form” is to be used for both semi-annual inspections. A completed copy of this Form should be kept on each bus.

The mid-year inspection should be made during December, January, or February. The inspection standards may be found on pages 9-1 to 9-9 of the ADE Administrator’s Handbook for Safe School Transportation. A mechanic of the districts’ choice may do the inspection. Numbered windshield stickers, an Arkansas School Bus Mid-Year Inspection Report and School Bus Inspection Form will be mailed to each district.

The number of stickers each school district receives is based on the number of buses reported in the 03-04 Cycle 6 SIS report. Please call 501-682-4264 if additional stickers are needed.

Please submit the completed Arkansas School Bus Mid-Year Inspection Report to the District SIS reporting coordinator or bookkeeper for the April 15th Cycle 6 SIS report.
