Act 106 of the 2003 Second Extraordinary Session enacted legislation to create the Division of Education Renewal Zones (ERZ). Effective July 1, 2004, any public school education service cooperative and institution of higher education is authorized to enter into one (1) or more inter-local agreements, which through collaborative efforts work to improve public school performance and academic achievement.
A second orientation and planning meeting, for persons who did not attend the December 9, 2004, orientation, has been scheduled for January 13, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Jacksonville Community Center, located at #5 Municipal Drive, in Jacksonville, AR. This meeting is to inform participants of specific guidelines for developing ERZ plans, reporting requirements, budgets, and use of funds.
Attendance and participation are requested and needed to move forward, while fully implementing Act 106 in the spirit and intent of this legislation.
