The Arkansas Department of Education is pleased to invite high school principals and district administrators to attend a special high school teleconference Wednesday, February 9, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., featuring Dr. Rick Stiggins, Director of the Assessment Training Institute.
The Smart Start/Smart Step focus for this year is “Classroom Assessment FOR Student Learning.” Dr. Stiggins was the keynote speaker at last summer’s Smart Conference and conducted the teleconference held this past October. He has helped deepen the knowledge of Arkansas educators in assessment – assessment of learning verses assessment for learning.
The February teleconference will include the following: overview of previous learning; coverage of the five keys to quality assessment; sharing of sample quality assessments; understanding that classroom teachers do not have to develop all assessments used in the classroom, but must be knowledgeable about selection; and, the role the administrator plays in the assessment process.
Attached is a list of the teleconference locations. Please contact the educational cooperative teacher center coordinator regarding attendance.
