The Office of Professional Licensure will automatically renew the teaching licenses for teachers whose license will be expiring December 31, 2005.
Automatic renewal will occur only for teachers that are teaching in an Arkansas public school during the 2004-2005 school year, hold a six or ten-year standard teaching license, and have successfully completed at least one background check through the Arkansas State Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation. Provisional licenses will not be automatically renewed. Teachers holding a provisional teaching license must submit a completed application for the renewal or conversion of the teaching license.
Verification of professional development will be required for the renewal of a standard teaching license beginning with the 2005-2006 school year.
Teachers not teaching in an Arkansas public school and/or have not successfully completed at least one background check will not be automatically renewed and will have to submit an application to the Office of Professional Licensure for the renewal of the teaching licenses.
Automatic renewals are scheduled to occur in April. Background checks needed for automatic renewal must be cleared by March 15, 2005.
All copies of licenses that are automatically renewed will be mailed to the school district where the teacher is employed during the 2004-2005 school year.
Public School Districts may access a listing of all teachers whose licenses will be expiring during the 2005 year through the Arkansas Department of Education Statewide Information FTP Site at the web address of ftp://165.29.215.34.

Once the web address has been reached, double click on the yellow folder labeled Certification; double click on the icon labeled Certification-Licensure; click on Open; click O.K.; click on List of Certified Personnel by Selected District with Expiration Date; enter the first (4) digits of the district LEA number, enter the licensure expiration year 2005; click O.K.
Teachers with a license expiring in 2005 will be displayed by building. The arrows in the lower left-hand corner will be highlighted when more than one page is listed.
