Director’s Memo SI-05-030 dated December 16, 2004, outlined the requirements of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation for determining and documenting the Highly Qualified status of teachers currently employed in Arkansas schools. Attached to this memo is additional information that lists the specific course codes that have been identified for inclusion in the NCLB Highly Qualified Teacher requirement. Each teacher assigned one or more of these courses must show that he/she is Highly Qualified in the content area by completing the Checklist for Highly Qualified Teacher Designation or the ARHOUSSE Checklist.
School administrators and teachers should refer to the Question and Answer document that was attached to SI-05-030 for additional information about the completion of the checklists and documentation that is required.
Direct questions to Dr. Frank Servedio at 501-682-4589 or e-mail fservedio@arkedu.k12.ar.us.
