REGISTRATION DEADLINE: April 22, 2005
The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) and State Mathematics Specialists announce MathLINKS training for teachers in grades 5-6. MathLINKS (‘L’earning, ‘IN’struction, ‘K’nowledge, and ‘S’tandards) is a two-year professional development program designed to assist teachers and administrators in implementing a comprehensive, research-based approach to mathematics instruction that is linked with the revised Arkansas Mathematics Framework 2004.
Enrollment in MathLINKS is open to classroom teachers in grades 5-6, special education teachers, mathematics coaches/specialists, Title I teachers responsible for teaching mathematics, and administrators. Training capacity is limited and early enrollment is encouraged. The registration deadline is April 22, 2005. Priority enrollment will be given to participants from Title I schools in school improvement.
Participation requires a two-year commitment by the school administrator and participating staff members. Each year of training consists of three days of training in the summer and two additional days of training during the school year. Additional information, including dates and locations for training will be announced by the education cooperatives and the Pulaski County area school districts.
