The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) is required, under 20 U.S.C. 1400-1487, to take into account the annual enrollment of private elementary and secondary students when allocating a portion of federal special education funding to each school district. In 2004, survey responses for enrollment data in private schools from 76 school districts were used to allocate $2.3 million in federal special education funds.
To minimize the paperwork burden associated with the completion of this annual survey, the ADE has provided the results of the 2004 survey on the Special Education website at http://arksped.k12.ar.us. The 2004 survey results must be updated to reflect current private school enrollment within the school district’s jurisdiction.
Districts should access the secure survey update site under the Student link after logging in to MySped Resource. The survey update site will open April 18, 2005 and close on May 15, 2005.
