The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 2004 defines assistive technology devices and services and stresses the need for individually considered assistive technology. Furthermore, IDEA offers the concept of universal design as a model of ensuring access to the general curriculum for all students.
In an effort to assist schools in meeting the demands of IDEA, the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) and Easter Seals of Arkansas announce a new program collaboration that is designed to provide expanded access to consultation, training, evaluation and trial loan devices in the area of assistive technology, accessible information technology, and access to curriculum.
Bryan Ayres will be the Director of the Arkansas Technology and Curriculum Access Center (TCC). The attachment describes the services available from the Arkansas TCC. Contact TCC for a fee schedule and further description of services.
