Educational administrators are invited to attend a special leadership session that will be held in conjunction with the annual Smart Conference.
The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) welcomes all superintendents, assistant superintendents, curriculum coordinators, principals, assistant principals, or others from the district in a leadership position that is not a participant at the Smart Conference to attend.
The special session will be held:
Wednesday, July 13, 2005
1:30 pm – 3:30 pm
Peabody Hotel Ballroom, Little Rock
Rick DuFour, keynote speaker for the conference, will lead this special session focusing on the role of a leader in promoting and providing interventions for all students, grades K-12, both in individual schools and throughout the district. Dr. DuFour will answer the following questions. How does a superintendent lead and direct the district in designing a K-12 plan? What is the role of other leaders in the process?
This year’s professional development will focus on interventions and strategies for struggling students. Act 35 requires all students not reaching proficiency to have an academic improvement plan. The summer conference will serve as the first step in expanding teachers and administrators knowledge base in developing and implementing programs for students not reaching their fullest academic potential.
The ADE looks forward to your attendance.
