An e-mail addressed to the district's APSCN Administrator will include a spreadsheet containing a listing of the students that were reported to be participating in an eligible Alternative Learning Environment (ALE) program for at least 20 days during the 2004-2005 school year. No additional students may be added to the spreadsheet calculations.
However, the student information submitted through Arkansas Public School Computer Network (APSCN) did not provide all the data necessary to compute an ALE Full Time Equivalent (FTE) for all students. The FTE calculation is essential to determine ALE funding under Act 2283 of 2005.
Therefore, the Department has populated a spreadsheet with all the fields necessary to determine eligible ALE student FTE’s. Districts must complete only the column entitled Total minutes per day in an Eligible ALE program. The EXCEL spreadsheet will calculate the FTE which can be used by districts to determine their 2005-2006 ALE funding for budget purposes.
The spreadsheet is to be e-mailed in the original form to adeinfo.arkedu.k12.ar.us as soon as possible.
The information submitted will be used to determine ALE allocations for public school districts for the 2005-2006 school year. During the 2005-2006 school year, a random sample of districts will be selected to be monitored to verify the FTE information submitted. Districts must maintain ALE participation documentation for audit purposes.
Districts are reminded that for 2005-2006, ALE student information, ALE class information, ALE days attended, etc are to be coded directly into the APSCN system. For information on ALE coding, contact the APSCN help desk at 1-800-435-7989.
