The College Board wishes to assist in the education efforts for new Arkansas students whose lives have been disrupted by Hurricane Katrina. The Board is trying to make sure that the displaced students’ hardships are not compounded by missing out on important academic requirements. The College Board will provide free testing to college-bound students from the affected areas. Also, high school seniors who live in the flood zone or have been displaced will be able to take the SAT free of charge, and all tenth- and eleventh-grade students from affected areas can take the PSAT/NMSQT at no cost.
Furthermore, the College Board is making accommodations in all major programs to assist students, counselors, teachers, and administrators in middle and high schools, as well as the colleges and universities in the affected areas.
