The Annual Arkansas Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Conference will be held at the Hot Springs Convention Center November 9 -11, 2005. This event is co-sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Education, Special Education Office. The theme for this year’s conference is “Collaboration”. Featured speakers include Richard Villa, Don Bailey, Diana Henry, and Jim Miller. Pre-conference sessions on November 9 are co-sponsored by Arkansas Division of Early Childhood and The Arkansas Council for Administrators of Special Education. The conference includes sessions and strands encompassing current applications of research in Co-Teaching, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Early Childhood Special Education, Genetics, Finance and Administration, Program Supervision, Behavioral Interventions, and Sensory Integration. Generous participation by Arkansas Department of Education, Special Education and many university staff members will provide current information on Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) reauthorization, case law, Medicaid, Catastrophic Funding, and teacher recruitment. Conference sessions are appropriate for regular and special educators, school administrators, parents, and therapy providers.
