National School Bus Safety Week will be observed the week of October 16 – 22, 2005. This week is set aside each year to promote school bus safety for all Arkansas students.
In an effort to promote school bus safety, the Division of Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation will mail a National School Bus Safety poster and Danger Zone card to each district. The Danger Zone cards may be copied if additional copies are needed. For additional copies of the poster fax a request to National School Bus Safety Week posters at 518-218-0867. This year’s activity booklet can be downloaded from the National Association of Pupil Transportation (NAPT) web site at www.napt.org. It is recommended that each district use these items to educate students about school bus safety and the dangers of loading and unloading students.
The poster theme for 2006 is "Flashing Red Means Stop Ahead". To participate in the 2006 National School Bus Safety Week poster contest, all entries must be received by May 30, 2006 at the Division of Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation, 501Woodlane, Suite 600, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201. Entry rules may be found on the NAPT web site at www.napt.org
