Arkansas Department of Education, The University of Arkansas Fort Smith, The Pygmalion Commission, and Arkansas Association of Alternative Educators encourage direct instructional opportunities with Alternative Learning Environment (ALE) students. A two-day workshop has been created to help assist in the many academic challenges presented in a nontraditional ALE classroom.
There will be an ALE Academic Academy on December 9 and 10, 2005, in the Smith-Pendercraft Conference Center, University of Arkansas, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Teachers, directors, and paraprofessionals involved with ALE are encouraged to pre-register, as seating is limited and a particular session might not be available when registering on-site. Professional development certificates will be given at each session.
