ALERT ALERT ALERT
In order to collect information necessary to monitor changes in the Standards of Accreditation and provide data for the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) reporting requirements, beginning with the 2006-2007 school year additional information will need to be collected regarding elementary and secondary students. A major part of the collection effort will be the addition of several elementary course codes and the requirement that schools schedule elementary students in Arkansas Public School Computer Network (APSCN) similar to the current method of scheduling secondary students. Also, the actual final grade that students make on individual courses at the secondary level will be collected.
Beginning with the submission of APSCN Cycle 2 data in October 2006, elementary students must be scheduled using the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) approved course codes. Additional course codes will be added for kindergarten through fourth grade art, music, and physical education.
A final decision will be made regarding any new course codes at the elementary and secondary level prior to publishing the Statewide Information System (SIS) Handbook in March 2006.
