The purpose of this memorandum is to transmit the Arkansas Department of Education Rules Governing Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Diploma Incentive Programs and Rules Governing Advanced Placement Courses in the Four Core Areas in Arkansas High Schools and Rules Governing Uniform Grading Scales for Public Secondary Schools and for optional use in public elementary schools. Following the public hearing conducted on September 14, 2005, the State Board of Education adopted these Rules on October 10, 2005. These Rules were also approved by Legislative Council Rules and Regulations Review Committee on November 3, 2005.

The purpose of these amended Rules, as directed by Act 2152 of 2005, is to allow a high school course offered under the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program to be treated the same as an Advanced Placement course.
