Get ready for National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) March 6-10, 2006. The theme is “GO PLACES WITH SCHOOL BREAKFAST”.
The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Child Nutrition Unit (CNU) is ready to help district child nutrition directors get started by making available the attached menus and links to websites where ideas can be found for planning activities for NSBW. These breakfast promotion activities encourage students to eat a healthy breakfast and increase student participation in school breakfast programs. This is a wonderful way to involve the district Nutrition and Physical Activity Committee (NPAC).
These promotion materials include an official proclamation and suggested menus, activities and games that are focused on the importance of starting the day with nutritious foods. The materials provide ideas on promoting good will and achieving a positive image for breakfast programs in the eyes of the community.
Submit articles and pictures of the school breakfast events during NSBW for statewide publication. If the district has a high school journalism class, ask the class to help write the newsletter article and take pictures of the breakfast events. Send breakfast promotion ideas and results to the Child Nutrition Unit for “Child Nutrition Network Newsletter” to share with other school districts.
