Orientation sessions for the 2006 National Board for Professional Teaching Standards availability of state-funding support is scheduled for the following three dates:
Saturday, April 8, 2006, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Airport Holiday Inn located at 3201 Bankhead Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas.
Saturday, April 22, 2006, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Airport Holiday Inn located at 3201 Bankhead Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas.
Saturday, May 13, 2006, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Holiday Inn Select located at 201 S. Shackelford, Little Rock, Arkansas.
Attendance at one of the orientation sessions is required for Arkansas public school teachers or counselors to apply for potential state funding support. State funding applications will ONLY be given to orientation participants. The applications for state funding will not be mailed or made available for download.
Orientation participants will learn about the state-funding application process as well as how the applications are scored. State funding is not distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. The applications are expertly scored then state funding is competitively awarded based on the application's score.
The state funding support will pay the $2,500 National Board application fee and reimburse school districts for three days of substitute teachers while the candidate works on National Board Certification. There is no fee required for attendance. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
