REGISTRATION DEADLINE: April 21, 2006
The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) and State Mathematics Specialists announce MathLINKS training for teachers in Grades 3-4, Grades 5-6, and Grades 7-8. MathLINKS (Learning, Instruction, Knowledge, and Standards) is a two-year professional development program designed to assist teachers and administrators in implementing a comprehensive research-based approach to mathematics instruction that is linked with the revised Arkansas Mathematics Framework 2004.
Enrollment in MathLINKS is open to classroom teachers, special education teachers, mathematics coaches/specialists, Title I teachers responsible for teaching mathematics, and administrators. Training capacity is limited and early enrollment is encouraged. Priority enrollment will be given to participants from schools in School Improvement.
Participation requires a two-year commitment by the school administrator and participating staff members. Each year of training consists of three days of training in the summer and two additional days of training during the school year. Additional information, including dates and locations for training, will be announced by the education cooperatives and the Pulaski County area school districts.
For further information, contact a state mathematics specialist or Dr. Bill Nielsen (ADE), 501-682-4232.
