On March 13, 2006, the State Board of Education approved the following recommendations about the performance levels for the Alternate Portfolio Assessments for Students with Disabilities, based on regulations for No Child Left Behind.
1. The top levels, Independent and Functional Independence, are used to meet No Child Left Behind requirements of the two levels above basic, beginning in the school year 2005-2006.
2. The achievement level descriptors for all levels, cut points, and criteria for participation in the assessment remain the same.
