Previously, school districts requesting waivers to use up to five days of the 178 student-teacher interaction days for kindergarten screening (evaluation of students) have received approval from the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), according to the guidelines set out in Director’s Memo No. 88-10, dated May 11, 1988. Beginning with the 2006-2007 school year and for succeeding school years, this practice will no longer be allowed or approved by the ADE.
