The Easter Seals Arkansas Technology and Curriculum Access Center (TCC), in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education Special Education Unit, will be offering professional development on the topic of Alternate Portfolio Assessment. This workshop is intended for special education teachers, speech language pathologists, related service providers, paraprofessionals, testing coordinators, and administrators. The training will focus on how to develop high-quality, authentic portfolios for eligible students with disabilities in grades 3-8, 9th grade math, and 11th grade literacy. During this training, participants will learn how to link appropriate curriculum to the Arkansas State Frameworks in the content areas of Language Arts, Math, and Science, and will extend this linkage to student alternate portfolio assessment. This workshop will be a combination of demonstration and hands-on activities.
Each participant will receive a highly detailed product with activity ideas linked to appropriate standards and student learning expectations. Worksheets that can be used with students in the alternate assessment portfolio, as appropriate, will also be included with this workshop.
This is a one-day workshop, and it will be held at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ on 10900 Rodney Parham Road in Little Rock. The workshop will be conducted on each of the following dates: August 2, 3, 9, and 10, 2006, and is scheduled from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Seating is limited. There is a $75 per person fee.
