Anticipated growth in the number of students in approved residential programs and increased funding requirements of educational costs in Juvenile Detention Facilities (JDF) will necessitate a recalculation of the reimbursement rate for the costs associated with the education of students in eligible in-state residential facilities in FY 2006-2007. Current estimates indicate a likely educational cost reimbursement rate of between $40 and $45 per day. The actual reimbursement rate will be published prior to the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year.
In addition, Rule 5.00 of the Rules governing Residential Placement of Students and Educational Services in such placements is currently being revised and will be presented to the State Board of Education in the near future to request the Board’s approval for public review and comment on the proposed Rule. When approval is granted, a separate Commissioner’s Memo will be issued to announce the public comment opportunity and to provide a copy of the proposed Rule.
