The Arkansas Special Education Resource Center, State Child Find Advisory Council, in Collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), Special Education, has launched a web site,www.archildfind.org, for the purpose of assisting public agencies in complying with the Child Find requirements in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Each local educational agency, including charter schools, is responsible for ensuring that all children with disabilities, birth to twenty-one (21) years, within its jurisdiction and in need of special education and related services are located, identified, and evaluated, regardless of the severity of the disability, including: (a) children with disabilities attending private schools, and (b) children with disabilities who are homeless or wards of the state.
Included in the web site is information on how to order, free of charge, special education awareness materials for distribution and display.
