Arkansas' major veteran groups will again this year offer a flag education program that teaches children flag etiquette and the proper way to show respect to the American flag.
Representatives from Arkansas affiliates of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Fleet Reserve Association, Jewish War Veterans, Vietnam Veterans of America, and the Marine Corps League will present the program to fifth-grade classes. Jim Miller, Director of the Department of Veterans Affairs, is again coordinating the effort between these organizations and Arkansas schools.
Schools that have not been contacted in previous years and would like to participate, should call Monica Hatley at the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs at 501-370-3820 or call the local county veteran service officer.
