Ark. Code Ann. §§ 6-15-1701 through 6-15-1704 mandates all schools to create a Parental Involvement Plan. The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) and Arkansas Parenting Education Network (APEN) will sponsor the Arkansas Conference for Parent Education and Parental Involvement: “BUILDING THE TEAM”. A one-day statewide forum will be held October 10, 2006, at the Hot Springs Convention Center, 134 Convention Boulevard, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71901.
All school parent involvement facilitators, parent center coordinators, and administrators are encouraged to attend. Concurrent sessions will be scheduled throughout the day. Participants may select sessions focusing on best practices in elementary, middle school or high school, as well as ideas for involving parents during the summer, family nights, improving parent centers, and integrating parental involvement programs into the school day.
Advanced registration is required. A check or purchase order must accompany all registration forms submitted. Registration is limited to the first 750 participants. Registration must be postmarked no later than September 29, 2006, and mailed with payment information to the following:
