The Arkansas Department of Education compensates each National Board Certified Teacher with an annual bonus of $5,000 (for up to ten years or the life of the certificate) while the teacher serves as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal or principal in an Arkansas public school district. Several school districts offer an additional incentive for National Board Certified Teachers. The attached list indicates these districts and the bonuses offered.
School District personnel are asked to review this attachment, and confirm via email to Michael.Rowland@arkansas.gov if the incentive listed for each school district is correct (or needs to be corrected) or if incentives need to be added to the list.
This list is annually posted on the Arkansas Department of Education website and the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards website (www.nbpts.org). The incentive list will also be used in various publications and presentations for National Board Certified Teacher recruitment and promotion throughout Arkansas.
Arkansas currently has 380 National Board Certified Teachers and more than 600 candidates actively pursuing National Board Certification.
