Arkansas IDEAS (Internet Delivered Education for Arkansas Schools) will be launched this school year. IDEAS, a product of the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) and the Arkansas Education Television Network (AETN) will provide Arkansas educators with professional development offerings delivered through the Internet. One component of IDEAS will be an exciting opportunity for Arkansas teachers to have access to content courses online. The ADE and the AETN have partnered with Public Broadcasting System (PBS) TeacherLine to offer professional development courses in reading, mathematics, science and technology.

The purpose of this communication is to invite qualified educators to submit an application to become an online professional development TeacherLine facilitator. In order to become a certified online facilitator, individuals must participate in a rigorous six-week online facilitator-training program that includes two days of on-site training sessions. Certified facilitators will receive compensation for serving as TeacherLine facilitators. Online professional development for this specific project will take place outside of the regular school day.

Online facilitators help learners create a cohesive online learning community in which ideas are shared, knowledge is applied, feedback is given, and reflections are made on the work. Online facilitators help build communication among course learners, provide feedback to the learners, and evaluate and track learner performance during the course.

Facilitator Qualifications:
* Certified teachers with at least five years experience teaching at the K-12 level in reading, mathematics, science or technology;
* Experience in developing/delivering professional development training for adult learners;
* Experience with curriculum development/instructional design in the content area; and
* Preferred Master’s Degree in content area.

Job Duties:
* Facilitators are experts in a particular field and are dedicated to ensuring the quality of the online professional development and
* Facilitators closely monitor the course and are available for support and guidance so that even novice computer users feel comfortable participating in online professional development.
