Currently, if a course is being offered for high school credit in an Alternative Learning Environment (ALE), the applicable academic course code must be used and the ALE flag must be set on the District Defined screen of the Master Schedule. Course code 971000, which is a non-academic course number, should not be used if the course is offered for high school credit.
It is preferred that the applicable academic course code be used in all grade levels and that the ALE flag be correctly set. This will allow the Highly Qualified Teacher(HQT) status to be correctly set for those courses requiring HQTs. Beginning with the 2007-2008 school year, the applicable academic course code will be required for courses offered at all grade levels.
Questions regarding how course codes and ALE flags should be entered in StudentPlus should be directed to Arkansas Public School Computer Network's (APSCN) field support personnel or help desk, 1-800-435-7989. Questions regarding which course code to use should be directed to Chris Barnes at 501-682-4558 or christopher.barnes@arkansas.gov.
