Pursuant to the State Board of Education’s authority under Ark. Code Ann. §§ 6-11-105; 6-10-118, the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) has established rules related to the program to inform students and parents or guardians about health care coverage under the ARKids First Program. Beginning with the 2006-2007 school year and each year thereafter, the ADE will cooperate with and assist local school districts in the state to inform students and the families about the ARKids First Program. According to the rules, local school districts will provide students/families with ARKids First Applications, ARKids First benefit information, and ARKids First eligibility criteria. The ADE, in coordination with the Department of Health and Human Services, has made available the above-mentioned information for school district outreach and implementation.
