REGISTRATION DEADLINE: April 27, 2007.
The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) and State Mathematics Specialists announce MathLINKS training for teachers in Grades 3-4, Grades 5-6, and Grades 7-8. MathLINKS (Learning, Instruction, Knowledge, and Standards) is a two-year professional development program designed to assist teachers and administrators in implementing a comprehensive research-based approach to mathematics instruction that is linked with the Arkansas Mathematics Framework (Revised 2004). MathLINKS training supports any math program a school has implemented.
Enrollment in MathLINKS is open to classroom teachers, special education teachers, mathematics coaches/specialists, Title I teachers responsible for teaching mathematics, and administrators. Training capacity is limited and early enrollment is encouraged. Priority enrollment will be given to participants from schools in School Improvement.
Participation requires a two-year commitment by the school administrator and participating staff members. Each year of training consists of three days of training in the summer and two additional days of training during the school year. Additional information, including registration forms, dates and locations for training, will be announced by the state mathematics specialist located at the district's education cooperative or the regional university math/science center.
For further information, contact the district's local education cooperative's state mathematics specialist or Dr. Bill Nielsen (ADE), 501-682-4232.
