The current Praxis II Specialty Area Assessment (10021) “Education of Young Children” that is required for licensure in Early Childhood P-4, will be changing to (10022) “Early Childhood Content Knowledge” as of September 1, 2007. The passing score will be 157.
The current Praxis II Principles of Learning and Teaching Assessment (30521) or (30523) or (30524) that is required for the licensure endorsement area of Gifted and Talented (P-8) and (7-12), will also be changing to (10357) “Gifted Education” as of September 1, 2007. The passing score will be 156.
The Professional Licensure Unit will follow the current policy of allowing the old assessments to count for licensure purposes for up to three years after transitioning to the new assessment as long as the old assessment was taken prior to the effective date of the new assessment. Old assessments taken after the effective date of the new assessment will not be used for licensure purposes.
