High School Summit for Teachers
The ADE invites all high school English Language Arts and Mathematics Department Chairs and/or Teacher Leaders to participant in professional development training on the amended high school English Language Arts, Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II Frameworks. High School principals and district curriculum specialists are also invited to attend. Copies of the amended frameworks will be provided.
The amended high school English Language Arts, Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II Frameworks have been approved by the State Board of Education for implementation with the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year.
This professional development training, conducted through the Compressed Interactive Video (CIV) system, is scheduled as follows:

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Lunch will be provided)
Location: Educational Cooperatives and the LR Technology Center,
7701 Scott Hamilton, Little Rock, AR (For Little Rock, North Little Rock, and Pulaski County Special School Districts).
Arkansas is one of only ten states to be awarded a National Governor’s Association/Gates Foundation High School Redesign Grant. Goal 1 of the grant is to develop college/workplace ready skills in high school mathematics and English/Language Arts by aligning the current high school English Language Arts and Mathematics Frameworks to the America Diploma Project. Arkansas high school teachers and professors from Arkansas two/four-year institutions of higher education conducted the alignment process.
The purposes of the March 16th training are to provide information about:
1. The High School Redesign Grant including the America Diploma
Project
2. The alignment process, and
3. The amended high school English Language Arts and Mathematics
Frameworks.
