The Easter Seals Arkansas Technology and Curriculum Access Center (TCC), in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), will offer professional development on the topic of hands-on science and math activities that are appropriate for students with disabilities from preschool to high school grade levels. In this workshop, teachers and therapists will learn a variety of fun hands-on science and math activities that have been adapted for children of all ability levels. During the training, participants will be given materials to use to perform experiments and learn how to adapt the activities for individuals with disabilities. In addition, the experiments will be linked to the science and math Arkansas State Frameworks. Attendees at the workshop will have an opportunity to learn about microscopes that connect to computers and computer software that will enhance science and math programming. Participants will be given a detailed set of materials with math and science activities included, as well as Boardmaker language boards for the experiments performed in the workshop.
The cost of the workshop is $100. The workshop is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, 10900 Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock Arkansas 72212, on June 13, 2007, June 26, 2007, November 7, 2007, and November 29, 2007. Seating is limited.
